Relationships and Sex Education
St. Peter’s Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSE) curriculum provides a virtue-based education rooted in catholic teachings to prepare students for a successful adult life. The program fosters personal attributes such as kindness and integrity while developing resilience and the ability to form positive relationships. It equips children with essential knowledge regarding health, physical development and online safety, ensuring they understand how to report concerns. Additionally, students learn about the wide world including money management and careers to help them play an active positive role in a diverse society.
St. Peter’s utilises the Life to the Full program by Ten:Ten Resources to deliver a comprehensive PSHE and RSC curriculum within a Catholic context. This program meets all statutory requirements and is based on the, ‘Model Catholic RSE Curriculum,’ which is recognised for its good practice.
The curriculum is structured around several key principles.
Spiral Approach: Learning is designed to grow at an age appropriate stage each year, with each stage building upon the previous one
Religious Foundation: The teaching is underpinned by the belief that our deepest identity is as a child of God who is created chosen and loved.
Structured Learning Stages: The program covers four distinct stages: Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception), Key Stage One, Lower Key Stage Two and Upper Key Stage Two.
Core Modules: Within each stage the curriculum is divided into three modules: Created and Loved by God (the individual), Created to Love Others (relationships) and Created to Live in Community (the local, national and global world).
These modules are further broken down into specific units of work that utilise creative resources such as interactive videos, story-based activities and classroom prayers to engage and inspire pupils.

The Role of the Parent
At St. Peter’s, we see parents and carers as the first educators of their children. With that in mind, we recognise the importance of working collaboratively to deliver a robust and broad PSH E and RSC curriculum that responds to our own school context and needs. 1010 resources are made with an understanding of the foundational role that parents and carers have in educating and nurturing their children on relationship and health matters.
