Norfolk 2023
Welcome to our Norfolk 2023 blog. Check back in each evening to get a glimpse at the exciting activities we have taken part in.
Monday
We arrived safely this afternoon after stopping on our way to enjoy our packed lunches. When we arrived we were given a guided tour of the site before getting stuck into our first activity. Groups enjoyed a range of activities from giant paddle boarding, volleyball, archery and caving. All of the children had a go and enjoyed already getting a taste of what was to come for the rest of the trip. We then enjoyed a tasty dinner of lasagne and southern fried chicken before the children headed off to their evening activity. They have had the chance to get settled into their rooms and enjoy some down time together.
Have a look at us in action!
Tuesday
Birthdays, bouldering and breakfast! We begun our first full day in Norfolk with a delicious cooked breakfast (extra hash browns for Mr Allen of course!), before getting ready for a packed day of activities. Wrapped up warm all of the groups headed off for canoeing and kayaking, even the sun made an apperance! The children enjoyed playing lots of games on the water and working in teams to develop their paddling skills. By the end of the session we had certainly worked up an appetite for lunch, with lots of room for seconds too.
During the afternoon children took part in a range of activities including survival skills, bouldering, rock climbing, archery, low ropes and caving. Before we knew it, it was dinner time. With a couple of birthdays to celebrate we sang a loud happy birthday to Alice and Mrs Costin recieved some gifts from home. After dinner the girls were treated to a dance party to celebrate some more and the children headed off to their final activity of the day.
A fantastic day in Norfolk, with lots more adventures to come tomorrow.!
Wednesday
Room Inspection Day! After another filling breakfast, it was a quick dash back to the rooms before room inspection. Winning rooms were the lucky earners of extra tuck. Once room inspections were complete, everyone headed off for their first activities; this morning we were volleyballing, bouldering, paddle boarding, low ropes and obstacle courses.
This then brought us quickly round to lunchtime and it was jacket potatoes with all the fillings. Each day, the children look forward to finishing lunch and heading to the tuck shop. A big thank you to the P.A. for providing the huge selcetion of tuck for the children to have each day. With our stomachs full, another round of activities was in store and the children took part in survival skills, archery, aero ball, orienteering and more volleyballing. Dinner was stew or pork chops with a firm favourite of lots of the children: yorkshire puddings!
The adventures continue and the children are loving every minute!
Thursday
Our last full day in Norfolk started with another amazing breakfast - we've been treated this week to a cooked breakfast every day, fresh toast, a range of cereals, yoghurts and fruit. The morning activties then kicked off with giant canoe; working as a team the children were able to explore more of the lake and even spotted some of the incredible wildlife in its natural habitats. Climbing and caving to follow with lots of the children challenging themselves to try something new and displaying brilliant resilience.
With a lunch of beef, chicken or veggie burgers, chips and salad to fill us up for the afternoon, we headed back to the bedrooms to begin packing our suitcases ahead of tomorrow's departure. The afternoon was filled with a quiz, aeroball, fencing and initiative exercises and the children had definitely worked up an appetite for their dinner (chocolate brownie included!). Our final evening was topped off with a film for everyone, with the dining room turned into our very own cinema we snuggled down to watch Shrek and enjoy the remaining tuck shop treats.
Final activities in the morning tomorrow before we say our goodbyes to Norfolk and head back home!
